[Off-Season Update] Winter in Shioya & Safety Preparations

Half a month has passed since the end of our operating season in late September. Autumn is deepening here in the Otaru and Shioya areas, and we can feel the approaching breath of winter in the chilly breeze. How is everyone doing?
 
In this update, we would like to introduce what Salt Valley is up to during our winter closure and our off-season activities.
 

The Serene Winter Sea and Nature of Shioya

 
The waters of Shioya, which bustled with tourists, divers, and cruise guests throughout the summer, now display a calm and quiet winter expression.
 
The dynamic cliffs of the Niseko-Shakotan-Otaru Kaigan Quasi-National Park gradually blanketed in snow, along with the fierce yet beautiful waves of the winter Sea of Japan, offer a harsh yet majestic natural romance unique to Hokkaido—completely different from the refreshing blue of summer.
 
We spend this off-season closely monitoring changes in the natural environment to ensure we can welcome everyone back to this beautiful Shioya sea next season.
 

Boat Maintenance and Safety Measures for Next Season

 
Our operating boats (such as Boston Whaler), which dashed across the sea almost every day during the season, are currently brought ashore for thorough inspections, engine overhauls, and meticulous maintenance by our specialized staff.
 
At Salt Valley 408, our absolute top priority is “Safety and Security.”
In order to welcome the reopening next spring in top condition, we are using this period not only for equipment maintenance but also to brush up our crew’s rescue and navigation skills and review safety manuals.
 

Schedule and Reservations for Next Season

 
Regarding the opening schedule and reservation start dates for next season, we are currently finalizing the details. As soon as decisions are made, we will promptly announce them on our website’s “News” section and official social media, so please stay tuned.
